Breast Cancer – Bilateral Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction

I was diagnosed with breast cancer on January 20, 2016. One month to the day after my 4oth birthday. Instead of a trip to the ocean to celebrate 40, I took a trip to Iowa Methodist Hospital to have my breasts removed.

I also underwent reconstruction, which put me in some serious discomfort (and sometimes serious pain) for several months. But thankfully, today I am cancer free and learning to live with my new fake breasts. 🙂 It’s a crazy weird experience.

I had the opportunity to write, Breast Cancer Marred My Picture Perfect Marriage, for CT Women.
