Book Poetry – A Writing Exercise

This is the latest writing exercise from my online writer’s group.  The challenge was to pick 10 random books from your collection and make a poem or a storyline of some sort out of them. Here’s my attempt. It’s a bit cheesy, but hey, you work with what you’ve got. Why don’t you give it a try? (Book titles in ALL CAPS.)

A THOUSAND SHALL FALL before the door of UNCLE TOM’S CABIN as they struggle in defense of the THREE-CAPTIVATING-FACTORY GIRLS and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO who are wrongfully imprisoned therein. He’s a FORGOTTEN GOD some say, and it may be HARD TO BELIEVE, but he has not forgotten these girls. His LOVE FOR ALL SEASONS has led these fighting men to become OBSESSED as He directs their hearts to defend the defenseless.

I am a contributor at CT Women (previously known as Today's Christian Woman where I was a regular contributor as well). I blog monthly at inspireafire.com and have freelanced for a variety of publications including Chicken Soup for the Soul, Guideposts, Thriving Family and Creation Illustrated. Cancer made an unwelcome visit in my breast in January 2016, and I am now working on a book about breast reconstruction after having gone through the insane process myself. My incredible husband of 18 years, Corey, is my biggest writing cheerleader and together we are having a ball raising our three growing boys; Carter 15, Owen 14 and Lewis 10.
