500 Dresses Update 2

This is just a quick update on the dress project.

  • Dress Total is 20. Shorts total is 12. (These are just the ones I know of.)
  • For those of you who are scared of sewing machines but like to shop, Mission to Haiti will accept new dresses and shorts, preferrably from size 3 – 12. You are also welcome to donate used sundresses. (Think nice used stuff. Dresses you would take to a consignment shop, not worn-out garage sale rejects.)
  • Deadline is April 30.
  • Here is a link to directions for a simple dress that is used by a group who makes dresses for Africa. http://www.nancysnotions.com/text/pdf/LittleDressesforAfrica_pattern.pdf

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out in some way. The list of donations and seamstresses is growing! More than 20 people have/are taking part in some way so far!

I blog monthly at inspireafire.com and have freelanced for a variety of publications including Chicken Soup for the Soul, Guideposts, Thriving Family and Creation Illustrated. Cancer made an unwelcome visit in my breast in January 2016, and I am now working on a book about breast reconstruction after having gone through the insane process myself. My incredible husband of 18 years, Corey, is my biggest writing cheerleader and together we are having a ball raising our three growing boys; Carter 15, Owen 14 and Lewis 10.

  1. Kim, I will buy several dresses/shorts for the Haiti mission. I will have them to you by April 30. We will be back in Iowa by middle of April. I can definitely help this way since I can’t sew.
