Getting Artsy

My brother is an artist. I am not. He likes making beautiful things out of paint and canvas and wood and chisels. I’m serious. Take a look at the stuff he does here and here. I personally prefer a keyboard and words to canvas and a paintbrush.

But I decided to get a little artsy with Mara, the other female in my house, when I found this photo on pinterest. (Yes, the Harms house has been blessed by the presence of a second female for the past 2+ months and I am enjoying e.v.e.r.y. minute of it.)

(It originated here. I love it!)

My fantastic hubby cut out some scrap wood for us, we watered down some white paint, bought some stencils and went to work…it’s not an exact replica, but I think it looks pretty sweet on my bedroom wall. And I’m sure Mara’s will look sweet in the new apartment she’ll be moving into too soon.

What about you? Are you wordsy? Or artsy? Or maybe a little of both. Feel free to pass your decorating ideas my way.

  1. I do not have an artistic bone in my body. I am definitely NOT artsy…. I am wordsy. Your artwork looks great!

  2. Looks great!! Anytime you want to get artsy crafty- let me know. I’d be happy to be another girl in your house for a couple hours! 🙂

  3. Julie I’m sure you could teach me a few things. I will never be as good at the craft stuff as you.

  4. Okay, a little jealous, I would love to have gotten to know Mara better and have girl time with you both before moving TEN HOURS away… You guys did an awesome job, and I’m totally going to make one!

  5. I love it! Nice job, Kim and Mara.
