Laughter with Lewis

Come along on my journey into Lewis’ backpack. I always reach in that blue Superman bag with a sense of expectation. What hilarity from my son’s wild imagination landed on a school paper today? It’s a rare day that I am not entertained! And I often find myself wondering, “Does Mrs. Asterita realize he is making this stuff up? I am not a police officer and Corey is not a Karate teacher…” but I’ll save little treasure of an assignment for next week.

I firmly believe that one reason God gave us Lewis was for laughter. I know there are a lot of funny kids in the world, but I am beyond grateful for the one who belongs to me. Lewis always has a way of making me happy. (OK, not always. Some days he makes me want to pull my hair out.)

I hope you enjoy this bit of Lewis happiness that that I am passing along to you.

I blog monthly at and have freelanced for a variety of publications including Chicken Soup for the Soul, Guideposts, Thriving Family and Creation Illustrated. Cancer made an unwelcome visit in my breast in January 2016, and I am now working on a book about breast reconstruction after having gone through the insane process myself. My incredible husband of 18 years, Corey, is my biggest writing cheerleader and together we are having a ball raising our three growing boys; Carter 15, Owen 14 and Lewis 10.
