Life Reconstructed

Ode to My Husband

The flowers which burst forth from the rose shrub beist crimson

The blossoms burgeoning on the violet plant beist blue

For these long months ‘ere have I been seven and thirty

Presently thou hast become seven and thirty too.

Happy Birthday Mr. Harms.

If I were Elizabeth, you’d be my Mr. Darcy – minus all the hateful stuff at the beginning 😉

I am a contributor at CT Women (previously known as Today's Christian Woman where I was a regular contributor as well). I blog monthly at and have freelanced for a variety of publications including Chicken Soup for the Soul, Guideposts, Thriving Family and Creation Illustrated. Cancer made an unwelcome visit in my breast in January 2016, and I am now working on a book about breast reconstruction after having gone through the insane process myself. My incredible husband of 18 years, Corey, is my biggest writing cheerleader and together we are having a ball raising our three growing boys; Carter 15, Owen 14 and Lewis 10.

  2. To thee I must reply a great thanks for being one so amiable as to marry such a fool as I. I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.
You can be my Miss Bennett anytime:)

  3. The sentiment which so beautifully flows from your pen has filled my heart with gladness and to my soul brought delight. 🙂

  4. Thanks Marilyn! It was taken on our 10th anniversary trip to Hawaii. Blue rasberry shave ice. Yum 🙂 Since I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice, Corey and I have been having some fun trying to speak in 19th century English.
