Summertime Writing

My creative juices have evaporated, so instead of words I am blessing you with this sweet sweet photo of my sleeping six-year-old.

I’ve been spending my summer days hanging out with this guy and his brothers, who contrary to what this picture may lead you to believe, have 5 times the energy of their mama.  We’ve been swimming, roller-coastering, creek walking, two-wheel bike riding and driveway basketball playing. (I’ve even beat Carter  at HORSE once or twice…and I don’t think it had anything to do with the fact that he wasn’t wearing his contacts.)

Amidst all of our summer fun (and during electronic device time), I’ve been sneaking in bits and pieces of writing time to work on a story assignment that I’m very excited about, but that zaps all of my brain power. So, though I’ve got nothing of consequence for this blog, hopefully after a few more days of scribbling on my rough draft during swimming lessons, I’ll not only have a boy who has improved his in-the-water skills, but also an article that does the subject matter justice.

I am a contributor at CT Women (previously known as Today's Christian Woman where I was a regular contributor as well). I blog monthly at and have freelanced for a variety of publications including Chicken Soup for the Soul, Guideposts, Thriving Family and Creation Illustrated. Cancer made an unwelcome visit in my breast in January 2016, and I am now working on a book about breast reconstruction after having gone through the insane process myself. My incredible husband of 18 years, Corey, is my biggest writing cheerleader and together we are having a ball raising our three growing boys; Carter 15, Owen 14 and Lewis 10.
