My article, Raising Strong, Christian Boys: 5 Ways I’m Building Up My Sons’ Character, went live at Today’s Christian Woman today. I love it that I am blessed with the opportunity to write for Today’s Christian Woman. Sometimes I can’t believe I get to write my heart, and get paid to do it š However, every time I write a parenting article, this little voice inside my head says, “Your kids haven’t grown up yet. You still have plenty of time to screw them up.” I silence it with prayer, and the knowledge that God is in control, and I…
I had the honor of being today’s devo writerĀ at The Upper Room. In conjunction with the devo that I actually wrote 2 years ago Ā (the road to publicationĀ is not often a speedy one š ) I was asked to provide a post for their blog. Here’s where you’ll find the devo – Counting to Ten Here’s where you’ll find the blog post – The Little Things and The Big Things While preparing the blog post, I was reminded of just how much God loves me personally. If IĀ pay attention, IĀ find so many instances where he takes a simple small act…
BOYS. Every single one of the backsides in the back row of that photo belongs to a boy. Why is that a big deal you ask? On Sunday mornings, the Harms house was a battlefield: two boys with an arsenal of arguments and emotion…
This story was a hard one for me. When I was given the opportunity by Todayās Christian Woman to write about where I land on the drinking debate and why, I knew doing so would reveal things about me that may change peopleās opinions of who I am. I would write a paragraphĀ and think āthis person is going to think Iām such a weirdo.ā Iād write another and think, āOh my goodness, that person is going to question my salvationĀ because I like pina coladas.” And when I wrote a bit of family history I couldnāt stop thinking that maybe someone…
Here’s a link to my most recent article at Today’s Christian Woman. Christian Kids in Public School The response to this story has been great for the most part. Except for one pastor who doesn’t approve of my choices. (I’m sure there are more, but he’s the only one who hasĀ verbalized it.) Oh well. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I am confident in the decision our family has made. Go Ballard Bombers!
